There are dozens of charter flights daily, as well as scheduled flights (London, Berlin, Budapest, Warsaw etc). Furthermore, 4 to 6 flights daily connect the island with Athens and throughout the week there are a few flights connecting the island with Thessalonica. Ferry boat and passenger ship service connects Corfu to the Greek mainland on the east (Igoumenitsa and Patras) and to Italy (Venice, Bari, Brindisi, Ankona) on the west.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON CORFU

The lush green island of Corfu, or Kerkyra, where Laurence Durell wrote some of his best novels, has rich historical links with Venice and Great Britain and is the birth place of renown Greek poets, politicians and musicians. It is known for its colourful festivals and festivities, many held around picturesque and authentic villages lying on the top or in the middle of the many mountains of the island and on the fine coastline which features some of the prettiest beaches in Greece; sandy on the west and the north, pebbly on the east. Its charming capital, Corfu town, is known for its Venetian architecture (now a Unesco site).
